Summer family vacations are days of sunshine and laughter, sizzling hot temperatures and cooling bodies of water; fun festivals and delicious summer eats. Harrison is a perfect getaway for a family summer vacation— there are so many things to see and do, activities to suit every age and family member, and cozy accommodations to stay in while you’re here! Here are some suggestions to give you and your family the best summer vacation yet!
Last year, we debuted a new summertime tradition: the Harrison Sunflower Festival. In our 1st year, we featured 5+ acres of the iconic flower. On August 1st, the Harrison Sunflower Festival returns for our second year — this time, with the addition of a massive field of dahlias. In total, there will be 20 acres of flowers: 54 varieties of dahlias and 35 varieties of sunflowers! Our other additions include a giant pumpkin patch and a field of u-pick Harrison corn. You can also purchase u-pick Sunrich Orange Sunflowers, cut sunflowers and field flowers, sunflower-themed gifts, and tulip and daffodil bulbs. You’ll find picture-perfect photo ops: swing sets, a windmill, a vintage bicycle, and face cut-outs designed by local Indigenous artist, Fred Jackson. Enjoy outdoor lawn games like bolaball, “giant” Jenga, dominoes, tic-tac-toe, and checkers. Weekends include the Rotary Club of Harrison Fraser train, giving free rides through the fields. Local food trucks will be on-site daily, and you can enjoy refreshments in our covered area. Bring your furry friend too: we welcome on-leash pets!*
